Mini Moves & More, Inc. carries both Cargo Insurance (offered to clients in order to protect their belongings during transit) and Workers Compensation which protects our employees in the event of injury. Although our movers are experienced and trained to protect our clients’ personal belongings as if they were their own, accidents do, upon occasion, happen in the moving industry. Mini Moves & More, Inc. protects customers for up to $350.00 in total repair or replacement cost per move. Above $350.00, Mini Moves & More, Inc., as a licensed common carrier in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, has a maximum legal liability by state law of $0.60 per pound per article. Our $350.00 protection is not insurance. You may want to check with your homeowner’s policy regarding coverage of your furniture and personal belongings during your move. Insurance is available for purchase through our carrier, One Beacon Insurance. Clients may choose Select Item(s) Depreciated Value coverage, or Total Depreciated Value coverage. As stated above, without insurance, per Massachusetts State law, moving companies are only liable to cover your goods for 60 cents per pound. As for the amount of coverage you should purchase, most moving companies insure the goods as a whole, and don’t insure individual items. Therefore, you should consider the total value of your goods and purchase enough insurance to cover all of the contents of your home.
