At MiniMoves & More, Inc. we recognize the importance of keeping the cost of your move affordable. Most moving companies’ estimates are non-binding; this means that the actual cost may vary a little or a lot from the original estimate. The best way to ensure that your move comes in on target with your estimate is to offer as much accurate information as possible at the time of the estimate. Neglecting to mention an item(s) during our initial telephone conversation could contribute to a lengthier move time than anticipated. Because you are paying by the hour, if the move takes more time than estimated, you pay more. And, of course, if the move takes less time than was estimated, your actual bill will be reduced accordingly.
These guidelines will help to minimize unnecessary expense and keep your move within your budget:
- Prepare in advance – remember that we charge by the hour. The more that you do to prepare for the move, the less we must do! Pack as much as you can on your own. Having all items properly packed is important to saving time. Be sure that you have an adequate number of boxes, tape, bubble wrap (we will be happy to provide you with locations where you may purchase these items). Labeling the boxes is very helpful when unloading at your destination, i.e. “Box 1 of 8, Master Bedroom”
- Although we are equipped to disassemble beds, dresser mirrors, tables, etc., you have the option to perform these tasks in advance. Remember to put all hardware into a plastic bag or envelope and tape to appropriate pieces of furniture for reassembly.
- During winter months, be sure the stairs, walkways, driveway are cleared of snow before we arrive on site.
- Ensure that large pieces will fit through doorways, down stairs, through hallways, etc. Measure the piece of furniture and measure the door openings; if you have concerns, let us know in advance to avoid moving-day “surprises.”
